2020’s Seen Some Huge Changes in the Film Industry

With movie theaters across the country closed for the past few months, the film industry has experienced some significant changes over the past year. What people want to see and how they watch movies has shifted and these are the biggest film trends of 2020 so far.

Popularity of Action and Adventure Genres

Action and adventure have always been popular genres, but in 2020 people have been using them as a form of escape. Films like Bad Boys For Life, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Birds of Prey were big releases this year and they did well at box offices.

Women Making Female-Centric Films

At the end of 2019, we started seeing women made female-centric films like Little Women and Lady on Fire and 2020 began with Birds of Prey. Other female-centric films made by women to look forward to later this year include Wonder Woman 1984, Black Widow, and Mulan.

Sequels and Remakes

Bad Boys For Life, Birds of Prey, Doolittle, To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, and Emma have all been successful sequels or remakes. Fans can’t seem to get enough of the characters in these films and they’re dying to know what happens next.

Streaming

Due to theaters being closed, many movies have gone straight to streaming sites instead of playing in theaters first. More and more people are streaming films from Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, Peacock, and Amazon Prime.
