Y2K is totally in style again and when it comes to the 2000 aesthetic, pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne is a major icon. Lavigne has given 2002’s “Sk8r Boi” a 2021 update while making her debut on TikTok and we’re living for it. The Canadian singer posted her first video to the platform which features the hit song.

Lavigne, who hasn’t aged a day, wore a black T-shirt and striped tie, bringing us right back to the ’00s, and she lip-syncs along “Sk8r Boi” while sitting on a skateboard ramp. When the song gets to the chorus, “He was a skater boy/She said, ‘See ya later, boy,'” the camera zooms into a special guest—Tony Hawk. Hawk, the ultimate skater, performs a few tricks on his own board.

The video couldn’t have come at a better time—it arrived Monday which is Go Skateboard Day. Lavigne posted a video of herself skateboarding on Instagram last month and she gave us a good laugh at the end, captioning the photo, “Hope this makes you laugh as hard as it’s made my friends and I laugh all week,” she wrote. “That’s what I get for sk8ing in my slippers and dress.”
