Dance Fitness Classes are Bringing the Party into Your Home!

During the pandemic, there have been many workout trends including rollerskating, virtual training, yoga, HIIT, and our latest obsession—dance fitness classes. While dance fitness isn’t anything groundbreaking as Jazzercise was super popular in the ’80s and tons of gyms offer Zumba, dance cardio has really taken off during COVID-19. Dance cardio is the perfect way to get an intense workout in without feeling like you’re actually exercising!

Just ask the founder of the dance fitness program KINGRY, Dancing With the Stars veteran Julianne Hough, who says, “There’s something about dance.” “Exercise is really the best thing you can do for the brain because it helps build new connectors within your hippocampus, which is where you create and store memory…The more you express yourself when you work out or move your body, the more you’re actually shifting your brain.”

KINGRY is just one of many dance fitness programs as there are tons offered on YouTube through channels like POPSUGAR Fitness, MadFit, and The Fitness Marshall.

The best thing about these videos is that they don’t require any equipment and that you can easily do them at home. The videos feature either popular songs with dance choreography or 30-minute cardio dance routines. The movements in the songs are cardio and strength exercises and they often repeat themselves, making it easy for just about anyone to catch on. Some of the videos even have a warmup and cooldown, which mimic a typical cardio fitness class.

Have you been doing dance cardio workouts during the pandemic? How have you been staying in shape during COVID-19?
