Ed Sheeran Announced His Next Album “=” & Here’s What We Know

Ever since Ed Sheeran dropped his smash hit “Bad Habits”, it was pretty obvious he’s working on a new album. He finally made things official last week and shared crucial details about his upcoming LP = aka Equals, set to come out just in time for Halloween.

Title and Release Date

As his fans predicted, the title of Sheeran’s next album will be =, and it perfectly plays into the mathematical theme of his previous album title. We won’t have for too long for this record to hit the shelves, since it’s set to be released on October 29th.

Singles and Tracklist

“Bad Habits” served as the perfect introduction to Sheeran’s new album, and it quickly cemented its status as one of the songs of the summer following its release in June. It will be one of 14 songs featured on =, together with the recently released promotional single “Visiting Hours”.

Conception and Vision

In an official statement announcing his upcoming album, Sheeran described it as “a really personal record” which chronicles the important journey he went on since he started recording it in 2017.

“My life changed greatly over the past few years—I got married, became a father, experienced loss, and I reflect on these topics over the course of the album. I see it as my coming-of-age record, and I can’t wait to share this next chapter with you,” said the British hitmaker.
