Lululemon’s the Latest Activewear Brand to Become Size-Inclusive

Lululemon is one of the premier activewear brands that everyone’s always trying to get their hands on before the collections sell out. Although the clothing comes with a hefty price tag, over the years many people have complained about their lack of size inclusivity not the costs of the items.

Activewear brands have been a bit slow to jump onto the size-inclusivity bandwagon, with Nike adding plus sizes in 2019 and striving to showcase people of different sizes, races, and abilities. Lululemon has just announced that they’re offering their six core styles in sizes 0-20 and by the end of 2021, they hope the majority of the women’s collection will be available in these sizes.

“It’s a start. Six of our top styles are now available in sizes 0-20, and there’s much more coming soon. Inclusion is a journey, and we know we have work to do. We’re committed to launching more inclusive gear every season,” the Instagram announcement reads.

The core six styles being offering are the Fast and Free Tight, the Define Jacket, the Align Pant, the Wunder Train High Rise Tight, the Ready to Rulu Jogger, and the Long Distance Short Sleeve Tee.

“Doing this type of work isn’t a case of just flipping a switch,” senior vice president of women’s designs at Lululemon explained. “We’ve actually spent the last 2-3 years re-looking at body types. It’s about understanding how that material maps on the body” and “engineering for the body in motion.”
