The New York Public Library’s latest project is about bringing classic stories to the young generation of Instagram users in the popular form of Insta stories.
“Insta Novels,” as the NYPL calls them, will be available on their Instagram page as separate story highlights. They have already published Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and are planning to have many more novels ready to be read at any time.
The plan is to make the stories easy to consume by young people who are used to holding their smartphone at all times. They can easily read page by page, holding their finger on the screen until they are finished with a single page. There’s even a convenient “button” in the bottom right corner that users can tap and hold without covering parts of the text.
