Finding a personal trainer isn’t hard—all you have to do is walk into your local gym, and there will be plenty of options. But they come at a high cost and consistently seeing a trainer takes a toll on your finances quickly.

That’s why many people are turning to a new trend in the fitness industry—online training, which gives you the experience of having a personal trainer without the hefty price tag.

Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages associated with online personal trainers.

Advantages

Online trainers are significantly cheaper than in-person trainers, because you use the equipment you already have at home; some online training programs cost less per month than an hour-long in-person training session. Also, they’re super convenient as the client can choose when they want to work out. For things like running or writing up a weekly schedule, online trainers are a great option.

Disadvantages

Although they are more cost-effective, you’re not getting the physical contact that’s essential for correcting your form, providing you with motivation, and preventing you from getting injuries. If you’re new to working out or lifting weight, having a trainer with you at all times is important.
