]]>The Paralympics Games are still in full swing in Tokyo, and records have already been shattered all over. Here are a few of the athletes that made new world records after their mind-blowing performances at this year’s Paralympics.
Despite being a relative newcomer to para track cycling Australian Paige Greco managed to prevail ahead of Wang Xiaomei from China and German Denise Schlinder, and set a world record time of 2 minutes, 50.815 seconds. She won the gold in the C3 3000m event.
Chinese ace Guo Lingling set a new world record of 109kg during the women’s powerlifting event. The 32-year-old Oara Games gold medalist broke her own previous world record of 107kg on her third attempt, following it up with a new mark of 109kg in the fourth.
British cyclist Dame Sarah Storey came into the Games with the intent of breaking her world record and she definitely achieved her target as she clocked in at 3 minutes and 27.057sec.
Russian swimmer Valeriia Shabalina dominated in the women’s 100m butterfly event and broke her own world record after clocking in at an astonishing 1:03.59.
Israeli swimmer Mark Malyar won another gold medal and broke his own world record at the 400-meter freestyle race in the S7, days after winning gold in the men’s 200-meter individual medley in the SM7 category. He set a world record in that race too.

The infectious positivity of the 22-year-old skateboarder from the Philippines gained her a following of 1.5 million on TikTok and 740k on Instagram. Her video dancing at the Olympic skateboarding venue reached a staggering 19.5 million views!

A three-time Olympian, Hurley gave viewers a peek into life at the Olympic village and participated in the TikTok trend of showcasing the team’s problems.
