2020 has given us many chic home décor trends, but none of them was more popular than comfort decorating. We used nostalgic items and childhood mementos to evoke feel-good memories from the past and transform our homes into safe havens.

Staying at Home

We’ve been spending more time than ever at home this year and used the early days of quarantine to try new DIY projects and give our homes total makeovers. This led to the emergence of comfort decorating, as many people filled their homes with pieces that evoke good feelings.

Faux Crittall Door Reveal! . Woo hoo! So pleased with how these have turned out and how through a properly shit week I’ve managed to get them done (seriously, DIYing these was what got me through at times😂😬) . So despite local lockdown here in Birmingham, my kids being sent back home from school and all the dramas of trying to get a test I got these finished. Some early mornings and late nights and just £50 spent in total (paint, wood strips and glue) to totally transform my bland white UPVC doors into my crittall doors of my dreams (sort of!) . What do you think? I haven’t changed the handles yet but will do that next week. Will be sure to share a post detailing how I did it and put everything up on my highlights but for now I think I’ll just sit back and enjoy the result of my labours this week! Marie Kondo’s Netflix series completely redefined the way we approach home décor. It’s been almost two years since it premiered, but many people swear by her method and only try to keep the pieces that “spark joy”—and old family heirlooms and nostalgic items fall under that category.
