Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a devastating ankle injury in the Week 5 game against the NY Giants that will force him to miss the rest of the 2020 NFL season. Prescott underwent successful surgery on his ankle on Sunday night and is now looking towards a four to six months recovery period.

Prescott got injured in the third quarter during a run attempt. He was tackled by Giants’ corner Logan Ryan after nine yards, with his ankle being stuck in an awkward position.

The 27-year-old quarterback was immediately carted off the field and later diagnosed with fracture and dislocation of his right ankle.

“He is an inspiration to everyone he touches,” said Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones. “He has all of our love and support. And we have no doubt that he will return to the position of leadership and purpose that he brings to our team.”

The injury represents a big blow for the Cowboys, who had Super Bowl aspirations this year, but even more for Dak Prescott himself. Prescott was in the midst of a career-best season in which he was threatening to break several records.

In the first four weeks of the season, Prescott led the NFL with 1,690 passing yards, which is also the most by any Cowboys’ QB in the same period. He also had three consecutive games with 450 or more passing yards, while also throwing nine touchdowns.

It’s also important to note that Prescott was playing on a $31.4 million franchise tag, after previously rejecting several of Dallas’ long-term contract offers. He reportedly wanted to further prove himself in 2020 in order to command an even bigger deal next year.

While Prescott’s injury is heart-breaking given all circumstances, he will most likely be able to return to be the same or close to the player he was. It only remains to be seen whether it will be with the Cowboys or with some other team that will take advantage of Dallas’ hesitation.

OBJ finally looked like his old self and easily played the best game he has ever played in a Browns jersey, scoring three touchdowns in a wild 49-38 win over the Cowboys.

Back in the stadium where Beckham made the infamous one-handed catch with the Giants that launched him into stardom, the star wide receiver seems to always show up when he plays in Dallas.

His first touchdown catch came on a trick play in which fellow WR Jarvis Landry, and one of Beckham’s best friends since playing together in college at LSU, threw him a 37-yard pass in the endzone. He then caught another more traditional one from quarterback Baker Mayfield in the second quarter.

The Browns were up 41-14 one point, but the Cowboys rallied back to cut the lead to only three points.

It was then when OBJ scored his third touchdown, essentially ending the game with a 50-yard touchdown run on an end-around.

Things are finally looking up for the Browns, who start the season 3-1 for the first time since 2001.
