There’s practically nothing about shoe trends that we haven’t seen yet. Shoes are so inspiring for many designers around the world that they have created all of the common and not-so-common ones already. Still, one can’t help but wonder – have we really seen it all?

Plastic, see-through shoes are the latest craze among celebrities. Granted, not everybody loves them, but those that do inspire their fans and followers to hop on the trend train. And when it comes to trendsetters, there’s currently nobody better at it than Kim K.

Before you order your own pair of plastic shoes, be aware that there may be health consequences. Dr. Rock Positano, director of the Non-surgical Foot and Ankle Service at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, said for Vogue that plastic shoes don’t allow feet to breathe. “The foot by itself [without a sock] in a shoe, plastic or not, provides a perfect milieu for bacterial and fungal growth. It is moist, dark, and there is heat. The combination of those three things make a foot inside a shoe a dangerous place,” he said.

Also, have in mind that plastic shoes are not at all flexible. They will definitely not be comfortable and your feet won’t love them. So, is this trend really worth it?
