Seattle Seahawks topped their divisional rivals Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night, but the tough 28-21 win came at a price. Seahawks’ starting tight end Greg Olsen suffered a foot injury that might force him to sit out the remainder of the 2020 NFL season.

Olsen got injured early in the fourth quarter of the Cardinals game, going down to the ground without a contac. He was helped off the field and was ruled for the rest of the contest following an examination in the medical tent.

Speaking after the game, Seattle’s head coach Pete Carroll told the media that Olsen has a fascia tear in his left foot. Carroll also pointed out that the 35-year-old player dealt with the same injury in the past, saying that this might help the veteran throughout the recovery process.

“So we’ll see what happens and wish him the best, and hopefully he can make it back,” said Carroll. “The fact that he’s already had this before really helps him understand what’s coming up.”

While remaining optimistic, Carroll didn’t want to speculate whether Olsen will be able to return this season.

“I don’t know that yet,” he added. “It’s pretty early to be talking about it.”

Seahawks signed Greg  Olsen to a one-year, $7 million deal this offseason. He was immediately slotted into the starting lineup and played every game so far in the season. Olsen racked up 23 catches for 224 yards and one touchdown in 2020.

If Olsen isn’t able to return this season, the game against the Cardinals might be his last in the NFL. He contemplated retirement before and already has an NFL analyst gig lined up with Fox Sports after he ends his football career.
