]]>The Emmy Awards gave us some pretty obvious winners this year, including The Crown and Ted Lasso, but several major wins for Hacks took people by surprise. Most casual viewers weren’t even aware of this series before the ceremony, but what is it about and is it worth the hype?
Hacks centers on Deborah Vance, a Las Vegas comedy legend, who’s forced to hire a Gen Z comedy writer in an attempt to win over the younger audience before losing her job.
Jean Smart, who recently won an Emmy for her brilliant turn as Deborah Vance, is the brightest star of Hacks. Hannah Einbinder and Carl Clemons-Hopkins also received Emmy nods for their supporting turns.
Hacks was met with critical acclaim long before winning three Emmys. It holds an approval rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is quite an accomplishment.
Hacks premiered on HBO Max on May 13th, and this streaming service is its exclusive home.
If you’ve already watched Hacks, and one season isn’t enough for you, we’ve got some good news. HBO Max already renewed it for its second installment, which is expected to see Deborah Vance leaving Las Vegas and going on tour.
