After being ignored by the Television Academy time and time again, the final season of Reservation Dogs got the farewell it deserves—a nomination for the outstanding comedy series.
Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie’s black comedy The Curse apparently went over the voters’ heads, and even the recent Oscar winner Emma Stone failed to score a nod for her role in this series.
Prime Video’s adaptation of the hit video game Fallout is the type of a show that the Emmys tend to ignore, but it sneaked into the crowded outstanding drama field and scored Walton Goggins his second Emmy nod.
Kate Winslet previously won two Emmys for Mildred Pierce and Mare of Easttown, but her latest collaboration with HBO—the political satire The Regime—failed to yield the same success.
After ignoring Selena Gomez two years in a row, the TV Academy finally gave her an acting nod for her role in Only Murders in The Building, shortly after her triumph in Cannes with Emilia Pérez.
Many have expected Kelsey Grammer to score another Emmy nod after making a comeback as his most iconic character in the Frasier revival, but he’ll have to sit this one out.

It’s always a good sign when the main star wants to make a comeback, and Kate Winslet would be on board. The Oscar-winning actress told TV Line that she “would absolutely love to play Mare again” because she found the character “outrageous and lovable and brilliant and real”.
Creator Brad Ingelsby discussed the future of Mare of Easttown with The Playlist and said it’s a “never say never” kind of situation. He doesn’t have an idea for the second season right now, but he’s not discounting the possibility of returning to Mare’s world if he “had an idea that [he] was convinced could be great and would allow us to spend time with these people”.
The finale of Mare of Easttown left viewers with some loose ends, and if it got a second season, it wouldn’t be the first HBO mini-series to do so. Big Little Lies was also developed as a limited series but got Season 2 renewal after a huge success of the first chapter of the story.
