]]>We can always count on Venice Film Festival to give us some epic red carpet looks, and this year is no exception. Black and white dresses were the biggest hit with the attendees this year, and these five stars already gave this trend their seal of approval.
Penelope Cruz’s partnership with Chanel is a gift that keeps on giving. She wore several black and white looks by this fashion house, but none compares to this charming gown.
The rising star Milena Smit, who appears alongside Cruz in Parallel Mothers, also rocked our world in Venice with her sculptured black and white dress by Balmain.
Haddish also couldn’t resist this rising trend and attended the premiere of her latest movie The Card Counter in a Christian Siriano gown with a white bodice and elegant floor-sweeping train.
Gyllenhaal has always been a huge fan of simple colors, so it’s not a surprise to see her embrace the black and white trend in a floor-length Prada dress with dramatic white sleeves.

]]>People were pretty skeptical after Kristen Stewart was cast as Princess Diana in Pablo Larraín’s Spencer, but it was just a matter of time before they changed their tune. The first poster and trailer for this royal drama are here, and they got us super-excited for its premiere this fall.
The first poster for Spencer is a sight to behold, and it seemingly shows Princess Diana weeping into a lavish ball gown. Her back is turned to the camera and the poster doesn’t reveal her face, but it still manages to perfectly capture the inner turmoil she’s dealing with.
The dress featured in the poster is not a carbon copy of any of the dresses that Princess Diana wore in reality, but it draws clear inspiration from several real gowns—most notably, the “Diaghilev” dress from the 1987 premiere of The Living Daylights.
Just like the poster, the trailer for Spencer is a true visual feast, but it only offers snippets of seemingly perfect royal life instead of revealing major plot points. The film will take place during the Christmas holidays at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk when Princess Diana decided it’s time to end her marriage to Prince Charles. It’s set to premiere at the Venice International Film Festival before opening in theaters on November 5th.
