First released on Netflix in 2015, Aziz Ansari’s comedy-drama series Master of None was well-loved by fans, perhaps even more so because it really took its time in order to assure high quality. After all, it’s only now, six years after the show’s initial release, that its third season has just dropped on Netflix—but this one is definitely a departure from the previous two.

While the first two seasons of Master of None focused on Ansari’s character Dev, a commercial actor, the third season focuses on Dev’s friend, Denise, played by Lena Waithe, an award-winning screenwriter in her own right. While Ansari’s Dev does make a few appearances in the season, he is nowhere near the main character that he used to be.

Instead, season three of Master of None focuses on the relationship between Waithe’s Denise and her wife Alicia as they grapple with trying to have a baby.

Another major difference between this season and the previous two is that this one does not appear to be trying to be a comedy, with a heavier subject matter and fewer (basically no) jokes.

In fact, this season is such a departure from the previous two that it even has a different title: Master of None Presents Moments in Love. But still, we highly recommend watching it as it’s a true unique pieve of television.
