All-star outfielder George Springer, one of the most coveted free agents this offseason, has made a decision about his future. According to multiple reports, Springer agreed to a six-year deal with Toronto Blue Jays.

Springer will reportedly earn $150 million, which makes his deal the largest in Blue Jays’ history by a total value. The franchise previously never handed out a deal that was worth more than $126 million.

The news is expected to become official in the coming days as the 31-year-old all-star has to have a physical with the team before the agreement becomes official.

Springer had a productive campaign during the shortened 2020 MLS season, managing to hit 14 home runs for Houston Astros while batting .265 with 32 RBIs. He also added four homers in the postseason and finished ninth in AL MVP voting.

The productive year positioned George Springer for a big payday this offseason, and he decided to make the most of it. He first declined Astros’ $18.9 million qualifying offer for 2021 and then managed to get a huge deal in a tough market.

The move could work well for Blue Jays, who now have a legitimate star that can help them make a deep playoff run. They will also further boost an already productive outfield that had 40 home runs in 2020.

Springer spent his entire MLB career with the Astros, debuting for the franchise in 2014. He led the team to World Series in 2017, winning the World Series MVP award in the process. He also has three All-Star nods and two Silver Slugger Awards.

All-MLB infielder DJ LeMahieu won’t be leaving New York anytime soon. LeMahieu reportedly agreed to a new six-year deal with the Yankees that will see him stay with the franchise through the 2026 MLB season.

LeMahieu became a free agent this offseason after rejecting an $18.9 million qualifying offer from the Yankees. Still, both sides were committed to extending the 32-year-old infielder’s tenure with the organization and have managed to come to a deal in recent days.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, LeMahieu will earn $90 million in the next six years according to the terms of the deal. His previous contract was for two years and $24 million.

DJ LeMahieu was one of Yankees’ best players in the shortened 2020 MLB season, leading the MLB with a .364 batting average while adding 10 homers and 27 RBIs. This brought him a third-place finish in the AL MVP Award voting.

By getting LeMahieu on a long-term contract, NY Yankees sorted out their biggest task this offseason. The franchise is now expected to improve their rotation and add reliable arms behind ace Gerrit Cole. Several names are reportedly on the Yankees shortlist, including two-time CY Young Award winner Corey Kluber, who is currently a free agent, and Pittsburgh Pirates’ starter Joe Musgrove.

Veteran outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. still remains a free agent, but this isn’t because there is a lack of interest in his services.

Speaking on CBS Sports’ Fantasy Baseball, Bradley gave an update on his free agency and said that there are multiple teams that reached out to him in recent weeks. “I definitely have been able to hear from a couple of teams,” said Bradley. “That’s good to know that there’s definitely interest—and interest from multiple teams.”

Bradley added that he isn’t in a hurry to land a deal, opting to remain patient in a “slow” baseball offseason.

Previous reports indicated that Houston Astros made Bradley their priority in the offseason, seeing him as a perfect replacement for departing George Springer. Houston, however, is reportedly set to receive competition from Toronto Blue Jays and NY Mets.

It’s not impossible that Jackie Bradley Jr. will remain with Boston Red Sox, where he spent his entire MLB career so far. Red Sox already informed Bradley that they want to keep him and have offered the 30-year-old a new long-term deal.

Bradley won a World Series title with Boston in 2018 while also earning one All-Star nod during his time with the organization. His career stats include a .239 batting average with 98 home runs and 376 RBIs. Bradley was especially productive in the shortened 2020 MLB season, hitting a career-high .283 with seven homers and 22 RBIs.
