Smith delivered one of the most over-the-top looks of the entire evening in her emerald Jean-Paul Gautier gown with a dramatic train adorned with rows upon rows of ruffles.
Billie Eilish
Speaking of dramatic dresses featuring more rows of ruffles than we can count, Eilish also embraced this trend in her oversized black Gucci gown.
Kirsten Dunst
Dunst proved you can wear layers of ruffles without looking too extravagant in her silk-and-tulle ruffled strapless gown by Christian Lacroix.
Nicole Kidman
Kidman proved it’s possible to strike the right balance when it comes to ruffles. She hit the red carpet in a light blue Armani Privé bustier gown, accented by a ruffled peplum skirt.
Jessica Chastain
Chastain embraced ruffles in a more subtle way, just like Kidman, and still managed to look magnificent. She picked up her first Oscar in stunning gold and pink Gucci gown, adorned with an organza ruffle-trimmed hem.

Nicole Kidman – Being the Ricardos
Lady Gaga (House of Gucci) and Kristen Stewart (Spencer) were obvious front-runners for the best actress award at this year’s Golden Globes, so it was quite a shocker to see Nicole Kidman win instead.
Will Smith – King Richard
Will Smith’s win for his amazing portrayal in King Richard is fully deserved, but most people expected Benedict Cumberbatch to pick up the award for The Power of the Dog.
Mj Rodriguez – Pose
Mj Rodriguez was going against the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Elizabeth Moss in the category for the best actress in a drama series and managed to make history as the first trans actress to win a major acting category with Pose.
O Yeong-su – Squid Game
Squid Game made quite a splash and broke Netflix’s viewership record at the end of 2021, but no one really expected O Yeong-su to beat the likes of Billy Crudup and Kieran Culkin and win the award for the best supporting actor in a series.
“West Side Story” Stars
Rachel Zegler and Ariana DeBose were both going against pretty tough competition in their respective acting categories, and it was pretty surprising to see them collect awards for their work in West Side Story.

]]>After months of anticipation, the Emmy nominations are finally in, and they’re honoring a long list of well-deserved shows. The list of contenders for this year’s ceremony brought several pretty big snubs and surprises, and here are five that got everyone talking.
Surprise: Outstanding Comedy Series
Some of the most surprising nominations of the year hail from the outstanding comedy series category. PEN15, Emily in Paris, and Cobra Kai will be competing against obvious front-runners, such as Ted Lasso and The Flight Attendant.
Snub: Small Axe
Steve McQueen gave us one of the best anthology series of 2020 with Small Axe, with amazing performances from Letitia Wright and John Boyega, but the Emmy voters weren’t paying attention.
Surprise: The Boys
The majority of contenders in the outstanding drama series category were easy to predict, but it was a surprise to see Amazon’s superhero satire The Boys make the cut.
Snub: Nicole Kidman – The Undoing
Kidman received Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations for her performance in The Undoing, so it was a surprise not to see her repeat the same success at the Emmys.
Surprise: Hamilton
Seeing Hamilton score a nomination for the outstanding variety special wasn’t surprising, but the acting nomination for seven of its cast members wasn’t something we expected.
