If you’re not into working hard and doing your pumpkin from scratch—using its natural orange color is a great way to go. The top choice seems to be adding simple white patterns on top of that orange backdrop, like leaves, flowers, or stars.
Floral
Okay, so flowers aren’t Halloween-spooky, but they’re just so pretty! And they seem to be trending this year. They’re pretty easy to paint (no need to be a modern-day Picasso here), plus, you can go crazy with the colors and it would still look good.
Black and White
Black-and-white pumpkins are painted proof that you really don’t have to be over the top in order to stand out. Let your creativity shine through shapes and patterns rather than colors.
Starry Night

]]>It’s safe to say that this year hasn’t turned out the way we were hoping it would, and with each holiday that’s passed, we’ve had to experience something different. Halloween is right around the corner and people are already starting to get in the spirit by decorating pumpkins. While we’re used to seeing carved pumpkins on doorsteps, this year people are painting pumpkins in bright colors and patterns. These are the pumpkin decorating trends we’re already seeing this year.
Etched Pumpkin
If you’re not into scooping pumpkins and carving out shapes, try etching your designs. You can create floral designs or patters and for an extra sophisticated look, paint the pumpkin white before etching it.
Chinoiserie Pumpkins
This pattern comes from the China patterns you usually see on cups and saucers. To create these pumpkins, you’ll need blue and white craft paint and a small paintbrush to complete the intricate details.

Buffalo Check Pumpkins
This pumpkin fits in perfectly with the cottagecore trend happening now. All you need to do is paint your pumpkin white and then to paint vertical and horizontal stripes on your pumpkin with a color of your choice. Then fill in the overlapping squares with a darker shade in the same color.
Marbled Pumpkins
This design has been super popular for nail art and it’s made it’s way into home decor. To nail this look, all you need to do is place a couple of drops of nail polish in a bucket of room temperature water. Then, add more colors and marble the polish with a toothpick before dipping the pumpkins in.
