The Tennessee Titans’ running back Derrick Henry capped off the 2020 NFL regular season with another dominant performance by rushing for 250 yards and two touchdowns in the 41-38 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday. This not only helped the Titans clinch their first AFC South title since 2008 but also made Henry a part of an elite club.

With 250 yards from the Texans’ game, Henry got to 2,027 rushing yards for the season and became just the eighth player in NFL history to surpass the 2,000 yards mark. The list includes NFL’s greats like Eric Dickerson, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis, Chris Johnson, and Adrian Peterson.

Henry also became the only player besides Davis to have at least 1,900 yards and 15 TDs in a season.

Despite the monumental achievement, Henry was more focused on the fact that the Titans made the playoffs while speaking with reporters after the game. 

“I’m glad we were able to finish with a W at the end,” said Henry. “We won as a team, and we all do it together. I’m just glad that we were able to accomplish this and win the division and get to the playoffs.”

The Titans will now play the Baltimore Ravens to begin the postseason and hope to repeat the feat from the 2019 playoffs. Tenessee got an upset 28-12 win against Ravens in the divisional round last year, with Henry carrying the offense by rushing for 195 yards.

Tennessee Titans didn’t miss a beat in their return to action on Tuesday night despite coming back from a two-week hiatus. Titans hosted Buffalo Bills in a postponed Week 4 game and came out on top with a blowout 42-16 win to improve to a 4-0 record.

Titans had their facilities closed on multiple occasions in the past several weeks following a number of positive COVID-19 tests. Many assumed that this, alongside the fact that they didn’t play a game last week, would cause Tennessee to be a bit rusty against an undefeated Bills’ team.

This was only true in the first quarter, which both teams finished with seven points a-piece on the board. In the second quarter, the Titans started rolling and scored two touchdowns via Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill to get up by 11 before the end of the first half.

The second half saw more of the same from Titans, as they held Buffalo scoreless in the third period and continued to pile up points. Tannehill threw two TD passes to Jonnu Smith while Henry added one more score.

Bills, on the other hand, only managed to score one touchdown, coupled with a failed two-point conversion, to make the score less painful.

“All the credit goes to the players for sticking together and playing in the manner in which they did,” said Titans’ head coach Mike Vrabel. “I am never going to question this football team. I am never going to question the effort. … I expect us to win and play with great effort.”

Titans were led by Tannehill, who completed 21 out of 28 passes attempted for 195 yards and three touchdowns. Henry added 19 carries for 57 yards and two TDs, while A.J. Brown caught seven passes for 82 yards and a score.
