Despite their initial plans to return this fall, several daytime talk show hosts announced their decision to stay off the air out of solidarity with striking writers.
The Drew Barrymore Show
Drew Barrymore came under fire after it was announced her talk show would return this fall without the writers, but she quickly changed her tune. Barrymore recently released an official statement, saying she’ll pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over.
The Jennifer Hudson Show
Jennifer Hudson is another celebrity with her own talk show who’ll take a break from hosting this fall. Hudson’s talk show was supposed to return on September 18, just like Barrymore’s, but she also decided to pause production and push the show’s premiere date due to the strike.
The Talk
The Talk is one of CBS’s most popular daytime talk shows, but it won’t be around this fall—at least until the WGA strike is over. The network released an official statement announcing they’re pushing the show’s release date and said they “will continue to evaluate plans for a new launch date”.

Celebrity-hosted talk shows are an easy sell because many people tune in to watch them for the host alone. It may seem like they’re suddenly popping up everywhere, but this trend has been around for quite some time.
The list of celebrities with talk show past includes the likes of Queen Latifah, Tyra Banks, and Busy Phillips, to name a few. It’s also pretty common to see celebrities guest-host popular talk shows, and it often seems many of them are just a step away from getting a talk show of their own.
