The Trial of the Chicago 7 is one of the main contenders to pull an upset at the Academy Awards, especially after winning the trophy for the best acting ensemble in the motion picture at the SAG Awards.

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom

If his final role, Chadwick Boseman joins Viola Davis in this highly-anticipated biopic, based on the life of the singer Ma Rainey, known as the “mother of the blues”. The film is based on August Wilson’s play of the same name and experts are predicting Boseman and Davis will both receive Oscar nods for their powerhouse performances.
