Blackpink and BTS helped put K-pop music on the map, but their absence didn’t stop this genre from conquering the world throughout 2023. Several K-pop albums soared to the top of the Billboard 200 this year, and here are five that prove that K-pop is definitely here to stay.

Tomorrow X Together – The Name Chapter: Temptation

After making history as the first K-pop boy band to headline Lollapalooza, TXT scored their first No. 1 album in early 2023 and gave us another catchy single with “Sugar Rush Ride”.

Stray Kids – 5-Star / Rock-Star

In the absence of BTS, Stray Kids emerged as the most popular K-pop band on the Billboard 200 this year and scored not one, but two No. 1 albums! 5-Star hit No. 1 with the largest week for a non-English album on the Billboard 200 in 2023. They later returned to the top spot with its follow-up Rock-Star.

NewJeans – Get Up

It’s only been a year since the girl group NewJeans was formed, and they’re already breaking new ground. Their second EP Get Up hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, in addition to selling over one million copies in South Korea.

Ateez – The World EP.Fin: Will

Ateez cemented K-pop domination on the Billboard 200 by soaring to No. 1 this week, with their latest album The World EP.Fin: Will, which they promoted with the hit single “Crazy Form”.

Drake – For All the Dogs (October 8)

Drake created a lot of buzz for his new album with the chart-topping viral hit “Slime You Out” ft. SZA, and it’s safe to assume he’s got another No. 1 record on his hands.

Tomorrow X Together – The Name Chapter: Freefall (October 13)

After kicking the year off with their chart-topping EP The Name Chapter: Temptation, the K-pop bad Tomorrow X Together will continue their world domination with The Name Chapter: Freefall.

Troye Sivan – Something to Give Each Other (October 13)

After five years in the making, Troye Sivan’s third studio album is just around the corner and he’s given us the taste of things to come with catchy bops “Rush” and “Got Me Started”.

The Rolling Stones – Hackney Diamonds (October 20)

After several international editions of Lollapalooza took place all around the world this summer, the main event returned to Chicago’s Grant Park this weekend. This year’s festival has given us many epic performances, and we’re bringing you five that stole the show.

Karol G

Karol G’s Lollapalooza set was one for the books and she kicked off the festival’s opening day by making history as its very first Latina headliner.

Tomorrow x Together

Tomorrow x Together became the first South Korean act to ever headline Lollapalooza, but this wasn’t the only historic moment for K-pop music. NewJeans also performed at this year’s festival, becoming the first K-pop girl group to do so.

Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar’s Lollapalooza return was a long time coming, and his first performance at Chicago’s Grant Park in a decade reminded us how much amazing new music he’s given us in the past few years.

Billie Eilish

It’s been two years since the release of Billie Eilish’s last studio album, but that didn’t stop her from setting the Lollapalooza stage on fire with her biggest hits.

Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey’s headlining set at this year’s Glastonbury ended in disaster, with her set being cut short due to the festival’s strict curfew, but she redeemed herself by bringing Lollapalooza to an epic conclusion at the Bud Light stage.
