The Billboard 200 chart is the biggest indicator of the success of newly released albums and many of the chart-topping records this spring had one thing in common. Hip-hop albums are all the rage right now and here are some of the very best that topped the charts in the past month.

Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers – Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar’s fans spent five years waiting for his latest studio album, so it’s not a surprise to see it soar to No. 1. This record took things to a whole new level by scoring the largest week for an album released in 2022.

I Never Liked You – Future

Future never had any trouble topping the Billboard 200 chart and he did it for the eighth time with I Never Liked You. This album reunited the rapper with many of his long-time collaborators such as Drake, Kanye West, Gunna, Young Thug, and Kodak Black.

It’s Almost Dry – Pusha T

Pusha T’s latest studio effort featured A-list collaborations with the likes of Kanye West, Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, and Labrinth and its chart triumph was easy to predict.

Call Me If You Get Lost – Tyler, the Creator

Seeing Tyler, the Creator score No. 1 with Call Me If You Get Lost this April was somewhat of an anomaly for the Billboard 200 chart, but it’s easy to explain. The album was originally released in June last year, but its vinyl release pushed it back to No. 1.

We’re only a few weeks into summer 2021, but one thing is pretty clear when it comes to the Billboard charts—hip-hop albums are ruling the world. The majority of the LPs topping the charts since the beginning of the summer belong to this genre, and these three are leading the way.

Tyler, the Creator – Call Me If You Get Lost

Tyler, the Creator didn’t spend a lot of time promoting his latest studio effort, but that didn’t stop it from soaring to no. 1. Call Me If You Get Lost gave us singles “Lumberjack” and “WusYaName” and easily climbed to the top spot on the Billboard 200, becoming the rapper’s second album to do so.

Polo G – Hall of Fame

Polo G has been part of the hip-hop scene for quite some time, but 2021 has proven as his breakout year. Following the success of his chart-topping single “Rapstar”, Polo G gave us an entire LP of epic bangers titled Hall of Fame, which became his first no. 1 album in the US.

Lil Baby and Lil Durk – The Voice of the Heroes

Collaborative albums have been a huge hit on the Billboard 200 chart recently, and The Voice of the Heroes is one of the best examples. It saw Lil Baby and Lil Durk joining forces for a series of epic hip-hop bops, and they really left the world in awe with their partnership.

Tyler, the Creator has always been full of surprises, and he’s staying true to himself with his new album Call Me If You Get Lost. He teased it only a week before its release, and here’s everything we know about this record so far.

Release Date

Call Me If You Get Lost serves as the follow-up to Tyler, the Creator’s 2019 album Igor, and it will be released on June 25th through A Boy Is a Gun and Columbia Records.

Tracklist

Tyler, the Creator didn’t reveal the full tracklist of his next album, but he already dropped two songs. The recently released “Lumberjack” serves as the first single, and it was preceded by a short teaser video titled “Side Street”.

Cryptic Promos

Tyler, the Creator confirmed the title and release date of Call Me If You Get Lost last week, but he’s been teasing it for a few weeks. He started the promo with the cryptic billboard, which includes a phone number “1 (855) 444-8888”, the plays a recorded conversation between the rapper and his mother when called.

Chart Chances

Tyler, the Creator’s last LP Igor came our way with very little warning and became his first no. 1 album. Given the rapper’s fan following, Call Me If You Get Lost could repeat its success, but it will have tough competition in Doja Cat’s Planet Her, which is coming out on the same day.
