Biodynamic has to do with the way the wine is grown. Biodynamic farming is a way of looking at the vineyard as a living organism and it includes tending to the animals, soil, fields, and pests are taken care of. Instead of using pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified things, farmers use natural ways to deal with problems that arise in the vineyard. The idea is that a healthy vineyard leads to healthier grapes.
It’s similar to organic farming, but it goes beyond it since it doesn’t use sprays or additives. Another interesting aspect of it is it’s connected to the lunar cycle. Biodynamic vineyards revolve around the lunar calendar. Different—right?
When it comes to taste, you won’t notice any difference with biodynamic wines. But you can know that these farmers care about what goes into the bottle because they’re spending so much time investing in their vineyard.
