The Music Industry Has Been All About Self-Love Songs

Over the past few years, the music industry has seen a lot of songs about self-acceptance, self-love, and body confidence. It’s nothing new, as Whitney Houston sang, “Learning to love yourself / It is the greatest gift of all” in 1985. The focus on mental health has influenced Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, Lizzo, and Meghan Trainor. These are our favorite recently released self-love songs that will put you in a great mood!

Demi Lovato “I Love Me”

Lovato’s single “I Love Me” is about learning to accept herself for all of her flaws. Some go-to lines in the song include, “I wonder when I love me is enough?,” and “I’m a ten out of ten, don’t you ever forget it.”

Lizzo “Good as Hell”

Lizzo’s insanely catchy positive song is all about self-care and appreciating yourself for the amazing person you are and not letting others tell you your self-worth, which can be seen in the chorus, “If he don’t love you anymore / Just walk your fine ass out the door.”

Taylor Swift “ME!”

“’Me!’ is a song about embracing your individuality, and really celebrating it, and owning it,” Swift said in an interview with Robin Roberts. We couldn’t have summed up the song better ourselves.

Selena Gomez “Lose You to Love Me”

“Lose You to Love Me” helped us understand what it truly takes to get over a nasty breakup and how to find yourself at the end of a relationship.

“This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album. I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself,” Gomez wrote on Vevo before the song’s release.
