Over the past few years, there’s been a major shift in people changing to a plant-based lifestyle. Not only is it better for the environment, but it’s also healthy and delicious. Whole Foods just released its first-ever plant-based food trends report, just in time for the summer and these are the top five plant-based food trends to look out for in your grocery stores.

Alternative Cheeses

Charcuterie boards are all the rage and if you’re eating plant-based, you can still enjoy these typically meat and cheese boards with dairy-free cheese alternatives. Cheese alternatives have gotten upgrades and they taste better than ever with nut-milk-based cheeses with gourmet ingredients.

All-Inclusive BBQ

Barbecue season is hard for vegans and vegetarians and at parties, they’re lucky if there’s a veggie burger. Now there are tons of creative main options like plant-based hot dogs, jackfruit burgers, and Italian-style sausages.

Plant-Powered Kids’ Foods

Kids’ approved snacks like meat and dairy-free nuggets, cheese, yogurts, and ice pops are super trendy, and they taste much better than they used to.

Seafood Swaps

Banana blossoms and legumes are being used to recreate the flaky texture of fish and they’re great in sandwiches, tacos, and “burgers”.

Non-Dairy Dips

Plant-based alternatives make for smooth and creamy dips that pair well with chips and veggies. Look out for non-dairy queso, French onion, “cream cheese”, and tzatziki dips.
