Whether or not you’re into wellness, it can be hard not to hear about some of the biggest obsessions and practices that are trending in the wellness world. From yoga to clean eating to manifesting, more often than not trends that start out as fairly niche hit the mainstream and become part of many people’s daily lives. To help you understand the world of wellness and its biggest trends, here are three of the most significant from 2023.

Exercise Recovery

Over the past few years, wellness has been associated with intense—sometimes unhealthy—levels of exercise. Over 2023, a new trend was introduced – that of taking the time to recover from exercise, and letting your body rest. Whether this was done through steaming in a sauna, braving a cold plunge, or using sports massage as a way of conditioning muscles, this new focus helps to bring some balance to exercise practices in the wellness community.

Sleep Syncing

This wellness trend involves adjusting your sleep pattern so that it is in tune with your circadian rhythms. This may mean sleeping longer in the winter, rising early in summer as it lightens outside, taking a nap in the afternoon if this is what your body needs, and generally taking good care of your sleep hygiene. There are also many apps and monitors that can track the health and quality of your sleep, helping you to pinpoint issues and address them.

Sober Curious

The number of people limiting or cutting out alcohol in their diet has been increasing year on year for a while now, but 2023 was the year in which the term ‘sober curious’ really took off. It refers to people who do still drink, but who are focusing on having more nights out which are sober, and on cutting down their overall intake for health and wellbeing reasons. In line with this, there are even more great alcohol-free options out there, meaning that the sober curious amongst us don’t have to stick to sparkling water.
