Despite St. Louis Cardinals’ decision not to give him a new deal, Yadier Molina isn’t entertaining retirement. Instead, the 38-year-old catcher wants to play for two more years.

MLB.com’s Jon Morosi recently reported that Molina’s agent Melvin Roman told him there is already significant interest in his client and that he was approached by at least three teams for far.

According to Roman, Molina won’t rush with the decision and will favor the team that will enable him to fulfill his goal of playing through the 2022 MLB season.

It was widely believed that Yadier Molina will wrap up his career after this year, considering he echoed similar plans multiple times in the past. However, as his contract with the Cardinals was coming to an end, Molina changed his mind.

For the better part of 2020, Molina talked up his stay in the MLB and even said that he will be willing to suit up for some other franchise if the Cardinals don’t want to have him in the future. As things currently stand, he’ll have to in order to keep playing.

Over the course of his stay in St. Louis, Molina compiled a Hall of Fame resume that includes two World Series wins, nine All-Star nods, and nine Golden Glove awards. In 2,025 MLB games, he has 2,001 hits and a .281 batting average with 160 homers and 932 RBIs.
