The boy short underwear, which were very popular until recently, are becoming less and less sought after. New collections feature more retro styles, like high-waisted thongs and high-rise briefs, which are now the crowd favorites.
Another trend that’s currently taking hold is high-cut French briefs, which throw us back to aerobics outfits supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Jane Fonda used to wear in the 1980s.
What’s great about this trend is that high-waisted briefs elongate the line of your legs and emphasize the waistline. In other words, they give you legs for days.
Another more practical upside is that high-waisted underwear is less likely to bunch when you’re wearing high-waisted pants and skirts. The look has been gaining momentum, with current-day supermodels like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid regularly sporting it on Instagram.

]]>Jennifer Lopez finally shared her post-workout skincare routine on Instagram and it’s only three steps long.
To keep it as real as possible, she started the JLo Beauty IGTV video fresh from a workout. However, for Lopez, that does not mean completely bare-faced. “I can’t leave the house without lip gloss and mascara. Like, I have to do that,” she said as she removed the excess makeup and grime.
Step two was applying the That JLo Glow Serum. “There’s not a morning, there’s not an evening, there’s not a moment that I’m not putting this on,” Lopez said, gently rubbing the serum in circles on her face and down her neck. She noted she even likes to go behind her ears.
Step number three is sunscreen. Lopez generously applied That Big Screen moisturizer with SPF 30 putting together two steps into one. You could also use a moisturizer and sunscreen separately, but Lopez promises that her ‘multitasking formula’ which combines the two in one product, will give you her glow in no time. “All of our products are going to give you a glow,” she swears. “You’ll just look like you have baby skin.”

]]>Online shopping has been steadily increasing in popularity in recent years but the Covid-19 fueled an explosion in this industry. Quarantine prompted millions of businesses to come up with long-distance services and many platforms were created due to these unprecedented conditions. One such platform that has actually used the online shopping craze for the greater good is Miiriya.
Miiriya is a marketplace website and app, similar to Amazon or Etsy, which promotes black-owned shops and funnels the profit back into local communities. Founded by a woman who goes by the name “Lonnaa”, the platform aims to “create convenience for shoppers who want to support black businesses”. There are thousands of sellers in each category, and about every one of them is a small, black-owned business selling handmade and carefully crafted goods.
According to Miiriya’s About Us page, the app and website require no listing fees and sellers receive 100% of their profits, unlike most other marketplace platforms. Additionally, all the profits from Miiriya’s site will be circulated back to healthcare and education programs, as well as combating homelessness and supporting other projects within the black community.
The name ‘Miirya’ means ‘thoughts’ and ‘ideas’—but can also mean “philosophers” or “thinkers”—in the African language of Bambara/Dioula.

If you follow the relationship of Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker on social media you might get the impression that this couple is constantly on. But of course, this can’t possibly be true, as Kortney and Travis themselves reminded us on Instagram recently.
On Friday, Kardashian shared two photos captioned “Instagram vs. Reality”. The first one showed the reality star looking stunning in an all-black ensemble and her hair and makeup perfectly done. But the next slide featured her and Travis cuddled up in bed, wearing soothing face masks and comfy clothes.
This cozier side of the couple’s relationship is definitely one we haven’t seen much of. In an interview with Nylon, Travis revealed that it was Kourtney who convinced him to conquer his fear of flying, which he has been battling since being involved in a crash in 2008. They have since been spotted having a steamy time in some of the most romantic destinations in the world, from Italy to Mexico.
The couple also took the chance to present the world with their PDA on the red carpet during the 2021 MTV Video and Music Awards on September 12, sharing kisses and holding hands throughout the night. It’s definitely nice to see them having a little break doe self-care and recharging.

After the show’s wild success and several Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, Sally Rooney’s debut novel Conversations with Friends will also get its own small-screen adaptation.
Many of the creative team members who worked on Normal People are involved in this project too, including director Lenny Abrahamson and writer Alice Birch. Conversations with Friends follow the story of Frances and Bobbi, two Dublin-based college students, as they become romantically intertwined with Nick and Melissa, an older, sophisticated married couple in their 30s. Rooney herself described the book as a “coming of age story”, but also noted the significance of its setting around the 2008 economic crash in Dublin, and indeed class dynamics are a major theme in the novel.
Frances will be played by newcomer Alison Cameron, and Sasha Lane (who you may recognize from American Honey) will play Bobbi. Joe Alwyn (The Favorite) stars as Nick and Jemima Kirke (Girls) plays Melissa. The show will comprise 12 half-hour episodes and is set to be released on Hulu in 2022.

]]>Michaela Coel, the creator, writer, and star of the acclaimed HBO series I May Destroy You made history this Sunday at the 73rd Annual Emmy Awards. Coel won her first Emmy for best writing in a limited series or anthology and she is the first-ever black woman to win this writing award at the Emmys. Also up for the award were Mare of Eastown, The Queen’s Gambit, and three episodes of WandaVision.
I May Destroy You premiered on HBO during the summer of 2020. The show follows Arabella, a young writer struggling with the aftermath of a sexual assault and is inspired by Coel’s own experiences. Her acceptance speech was brief yet powerful: “Write the tale that scares you, that makes you feel uncertain, that isn’t comfortable. I dare you.” She ended her speech by dedicating I May Destroy You to “every single survivor of sexual assault.”
The writer-director-actress was also nominated in the best directing and acting categories for limited series but only won the writing category. I May Destroy You is currently streaming on HBO Max.

]]>The trailer of You season 3 was finally released, and we could get a glimpse of what awaits us when the show returns in October. Season 2 of Netflix’s beloved thriller followed Joe (Penn Badgley) to Los Angeles as he fled his past life and discovered a new object to his creepy affections – a pastry chef named Love (Victoria Pedretti) who isn’t so innocent herself.
While the details on the 3rd season are scant, we do know that the plot will focus on Joe and Love as they raise their newborn son and commit to a life of suburban familial bliss. But like many young parents, Joe and Love struggle at times to adjust to their new lifestyle, and Joe becomes worryingly interested in a pretty blonde woman in the neighborhood.
Set to a chilling remix of Britney Spears’s Baby One More Time, the trailer shows a pair of hands, presumably those of Love, making a cake. In the background, Joe’s narration ponders on how raising a boy like himself would be “not without challenges”.
Production on the new season of You began in November 2020, but it was delayed several times due to Covid-19 restrictions. Netflix revealed on its social channels that the new episodes will premiere on October 15.
