Bikepacking is the Latest Outdoor Trend

Have you heard of the term “bikepacking”? It’s a combination of biking and backpacking and it may be the improvement on both those things we’ve been waiting for. Who says you’re limited to walking when you’re backpacking? Combine it with a mountain bike and all the limits will disappear. You can go from place to place faster and still stay active, with your faithful backpack still on your back like it always was.

Fall is the perfect time to try bikepacking. It’s not too hot anymore which means you can spend a whole day on your bike. This is a perfect way to explore the area around your home and to spend more time in nature, getting active. It’s infinitely better than sitting in front of the TV all weekend long, and if you can find some company, it will make it even better.

If you’re planning a whole day on the bike, make sure to pack plenty of food and water. Pack meals that can easily be eaten on the go and bring some energy bars with you. Think like a minimalist, but make sure you’re bringing all the essentials with you. If you plan on spending the night in nature, invest in a small tent that easily fits into your backpack. Always have a patch kit, a few essential tools, a portable pump, and spare tubes.
