In an unexpected turn of events, New York Giants find themselves on the top of the NFC East after Sunday’s 19-17 win against Cincinnati Bengals. However, the bid to remain there just got a lot tougher as the team’s starting quarterback Daniel Jones is reportedly dealing with a “pretty bad” hamstring injury.

Jones suffered the injury during a run early in the second half. He tried to remain in the game, but the issues noticeably limited his mobility and prompted the head coach Joe Judge to sub him for veteran Colt McCoy.

“Yeah, just felt it on that play and didn’t feel like I could get a lot on it really or do what I needed to do to be effective and move the ball and throw it accurately,” said Jones after the game. “Just look to rehab it, do whatever I can to heal it up as fast as I can.”

The Giants haven’t given any prognosis on Jones’ injury so far as they wait on the results of tests that the 23-year-old player underwent on Monday.

According to reports, the Giants are internally expecting that Jones will miss some time before being able to play again. It is estimated that he could miss between one and two weeks of action.

Daniel Jones has been solid for the Giants this season, although he didn’t take the step forward that many expected him to take following a promising end of 2019. Jones is currently completing 63.2 percent of his passes and has 2,335 passing yards to go with eight touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Giants are currently on a three-game winning streak and lead the NFC with a 4-7 record.
