In case you haven’t heard, there’s a new Mean Girls movie coming out in 2024. Released 20 years after the 2004 classic, this version is a retelling of the original. Most people have at least heard of the 00s chick flick, and for many the funny film has a cult classic status. For this reason, the movie’s release is highly anticipated. Here’s why it’s one to look forward to.

It’s a Musical

Based on the Broadway show version, the new movie will see the characters breaking out into songs and expressing their feelings with heartfelt ballads. While some might say Mean Girls is cheesy enough as is, for fans of chick flicks and musicals this merging will be a dream come true.

The Cast

Even if you aren’t super familiar with the 2004 version, you’ll likely recognize Tina Fey and Tim Meadows who are returning as the lovable teachers at the school. Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps, and Jon Hamm also join the cast, so you know you’re in for a treat.

It’s Modern

For any young people now, the original Mean Girls movie may be too dated to relate to. However the upcoming version is much more relevant to high schoolers in today’s age, and the modern feel of the tale is refreshing and enjoyable.
