We can count on Hollywood studios to plot a live-action adaptation of any animated movie that finds success, and beloved anime/manga series are the next ones in line. Live-action anime adaptations are having a moment right now, and here are three that got everyone talking.

One Piece

Eiichiro Oda’s manga series One Piece experienced a true renaissance this year thanks to Netflix. The streamer’s live-action series about the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates created quite a splash when it premiered in late August, and Netflix was quick to renew it for its second season.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

After M. Night Shyamalan’s failed attempt to bring Avatar: The Last Airbender to life, Netflix bosses decided to give it another shot. This live-action series centers on the young airbender Aang, who’s trying to hone his skills and bring harmony to his war-torn world alongside his friends Katara and Sokka.

Naruto

Naruto is definitely one of the most iconic anime of the 21st century, and Lionsgate is currently plotting its live-action adaptation. This project is still in the early stages of development and we don’t know much about it, apart from the fact that Tasha Huo is writing the screenplay.
