Eiichiro Oda’s manga series One Piece experienced a true renaissance this year thanks to Netflix. The streamer’s live-action series about the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates created quite a splash when it premiered in late August, and Netflix was quick to renew it for its second season.
After M. Night Shyamalan’s failed attempt to bring Avatar: The Last Airbender to life, Netflix bosses decided to give it another shot. This live-action series centers on the young airbender Aang, who’s trying to hone his skills and bring harmony to his war-torn world alongside his friends Katara and Sokka.
Naruto is definitely one of the most iconic anime of the 21st century, and Lionsgate is currently plotting its live-action adaptation. This project is still in the early stages of development and we don’t know much about it, apart from the fact that Tasha Huo is writing the screenplay.

The live-action remake of the popular anime series is among the most anticipated new shows coming to Netflix next year, and here’s everything you should know ahead of its release.
Just like the original series that it’s based on, Avatar: The Last Airbender will be set in a world divided into nations ruled by four elements: water, earth, fire, or air. Their world has been ravaged by war, and it’s up to the young Avatar named Aang to master the skill of ruling all four elements and try to bring peace to all four nations.
Newcomer Gordon Cormier was cast as Aang, while Kiawentiio and Ian Ousley will play his friends Katara and Sokka. Dallas Liu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Leung, Maria Zhang, Elizabeth Yu, and Lim Kay Siu will join this trio in supporting roles.
Avatar: The Last Airbender was created for Netflix by Albert Kim, and it will premiere on February 22, 2024. The first season will feature a total of eight episodes and Netflix is yet to share news about its potential renewal.
