Black gowns are never going out of style and we can find a few at pretty much every major award show. This year’s Billboard Music Awards were no different, but the stars attending this show managed to make a statement with their black dresses and did a great job putting a twist on them.

Doja Cat

Doja Cat was dripping black and gold at this year’s BBMAs in a full Schiaparelli look, which included a gown with a sculptural black corset, a nude tulle train, gold-toe shoes, and a matching planet-shaped bag.

Megan Fox

Fox stole the show on the red carpet with her off-the-shoulder David Koma gown with thigh slit and dramatic long sleeves decorated with crystal flower appliqués.

Mary J. Blige

Mary J. Blige picked up the Icon Award and this year’s ceremony and she opted for a patterned sheer cutout gown by Julien Macdonald for the occasion.

Chloe Bailey

Chloe Bailey never plays it safe with her fashion choices and she stayed true to herself as a BBMAs. She hit the red carpet in a risky leather cutout dress by Valdrin Shahiti.

This year has been full of amazing music and picking the top ones is challenging. But some artists have really brought their A-game in 2021 and these are the top five albums of the year. Did your favorites make the list?

Olivia Rodrigo – Sour

Olivia Rodrigo is definitely the biggest rising star of 2021, and she knocked it out of the park with her debut album Sour, which produced No. 1 hits “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U”.

Adele – 30

It’s been over five years since Adele released a new album, but 30 was worth the wait. It became the highest-selling album of 2021 only a few weeks after its release and its lead single “Easy on Me” is still leading the charts around the world.

Drake – Certified Lover Boy

Drake never struggled to top the charts with his new album, and he exceeded our wildest expectations with Certified Lover Boy. In addition to spending five weeks at No. 1, this LP set the all-time record for the most top-ten singles from one album.

Lil Nas X – Montero

Lil Nas X’s debut album Montero never even hit No. 1, but that didn’t stop it from being one of the most talked-about LPs of 2021 and producing two No. 1 hits—”Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” and “Industry Baby” ft. Jack Harlow.

Doja Cat – Planet Her

Speaking of albums that never hit No. 1, but still managed to become one of the biggest cultural milestones of 2021, Doja Cat’s Planet Her also falls under that category.

Lil Nas X’s debut album Montero was released last week to rave reviews and gave us many epic tracks. Some of them saw the Grammy-winning rapper join forces with some of our favorite artists, and here are five amazing collaborations that made us fall in love with this album.

“Industry Baby” ft. Jack Harlow

“Industry Baby” gave us a taste of things to come and served as one of the promotional singles for Montero. In addition to featuring Jack Harlow, this song also credits Kanye West as one of the producers.

“Am I Dreaming” ft. Miley Cyrus

This amazing collaboration between Lil Nas X and Miley Cyrus was a long time coming, especially since he previously collaborated with her dad Billy Ray Cyrus on “Old Town Road”.

“Scoop” ft. Doja Cat

Doja Cat and Lil Nas X both dedicated their careers to changing the way we look at rap and experimenting with many different genres, and “Scoop” proves they’re a match made in heaven.

“Dolla Sign Slime” ft. Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion is the queen of amazing collaborations, and her verse is pretty much the best part of “Dolla Sign Slime”.

“One of Me” ft. Elton John

Lil Nas X and Elton John may not sound like the most obvious duo, but they share the same love for showmanship and their collaboration is one of Montero’s poppiest songs.

Doja Cat is back in the spotlight with Plant Her and every song from this album is an absolute banger. The same can be said about several A-list collaborations featured on this record, and here are some of the very best.

“Kiss Me More” (featuring SZA)

Even before it officially hit the shelves, Planet Her already produced one hit single—”Kiss Me More” featuring SZA. This catchy bop is one of the defining songs of summer 2021, and it peaked at no. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“You Right” (featuring The Weeknd)

It was just a matter of time before Doja Cat and The Weeknd joined forces again after collaborating on the remix of his hit single “In Your Eyes”. The success of “You Right” proved to the world they are truly a match made in heaven.

“I Don’t Do Drugs” (featuring Ariana Grande)

Ariana Grande is another artist that perfectly matches Doja Cat’s energy and “I Don’t Do Drugs” is their third collaboration following “Motive” and “34+35 (Remix)” with Megan Thee Stallion.

“Payday” (featuring Young Thug)

In addition to featuring several familiar faces, Planet Her saw Doja Cat collaborating with several artists she never worked with before, including Young Thug.

Our favorite female rappers were ruling the charts while setting records last summer, and they’re planning to do it again in 2021. Several of the world’s leading hip-hop stars dropped new singles last week and gave us catchy songs we’re expected to hear everywhere all summer long.

Doja Cat – “Need to Know”

Doja Cat’s third studio album Planet Her is just around the corner, and she recently gave us a taste of things to come with the new single “Need to Know”. The song is accompanied by a futuristic music video that pays homage to such sci-fi classics as Blade Runner and The Fifth Element.

Megan Thee Stallion – “Thot Sh**”

After taking a break from recording solo music and mostly collaborating with other artists, Megan Thee Stallion finally gave us her first solo single of 2021. “Thot Sh**” is one of her most raw and unapologetic songs to date and it shows her fully embracing her alter ego Tina Snow.

Cardi B – “Type Sh**” ft. Migos

Cardi B hasn’t released any new solo singles last week, but she collaborated with Migos on a new song “Type Sh**” from their upcoming album Culture III. She’s currently working on her sophomore album, which will feature her chart-topping hits “Up” and “WAP”, so it’s safe to expect she’ll surprise us with some more new music this summer.

It’s been two years since Doja Cat rocked our world with her sophomore album Hot Pink, and she’s finally coming back for more. Her third LP Planet Her is just around the corner and here’s everything we know about it so far.

Release Date & Cover Art

Doja Cat has been teasing Planet Her for quite some time, but she revealed the crucial piece of information about it quite recently. The album will hit the shelves on June 25th, and its cosmic cover art looks straight out of another planet.

Tracklist & Collaborations

The “Say So” singer also revealed her new album will feature a total of 14 tracks, including the previously released lead single “Kiss Me More” with SZA. “Need to Know” will serve as the album’s first promotional single. Planet Her will also feature collaborations with Ariana Grande, Young Thug, and The Weeknd.

Concept Album

While discussing Planet Her with Audacy, Doja Cat described it as the center of the universe “where all races of space exist and it’s where all species can kind of be in harmony.” She later told Billboard her main goal is to start this album “from a more innovative spot” and introduce new things to people instead of just trying to re-create and rehash.

Years after her big break with “Icy Grl”, Saweetie’s fans are still waiting for her debut studio album—but the wait will soon be over. Pretty Bit-h Music is set to hit the shelves this year, and the rapper teased it with several pretty epic collaborations in the last few months.

“Best Friend” ft. Doja Cat

Set to serve as one of the singles on Saweetie’s upcoming album, “Best Friend” is currently the highest-charting single of Saweetie’s career. It’s all about hyping your BFFs up and it’s just the kind of female collaboration we need right now.

“Slow Clap” ft. Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani is currently working on her fifth studio album, and she tapped Saweetie to join her for the second single “Slow Clap”. The music video for this song has a nostalgic retro vibe that will take you back to the 2000s and make you feel like you’re reliving Stefani’s s “Hollaback Girl” era all over again.

“Risky” ft. Drakeo the Ruler

Before dropping Pretty Bit-h Music, Saweetie decided to tease its release with another EP—Pretty Summer Playlist: Season 1. This collaborative record features several brand-new songs, and “Risky” with Drakeo the Ruler is one of the standouts.

The “women supporting women” trend is taking the music industry by storm, and Doja Cat is one of the artists at its frontlines. She’s given us several epic collaborations since the beginning of 2021, and each one featured some of our favorite female artists.

“Kiss Me More” ft. SZA

Doja Cat’s latest A-list collaboration with SZA will also serve as the lead single for her upcoming third studio album. The sensual music video for this song is a pink-colored daydream with a sci-fi theme and it perfectly captures the vibe of this disco-inspired track.

“34+35 (Remix)” ft. Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion

One of the highest-ranking hits of Doja Cat’s career so far comes in the form of a rap-infused remix of Ariana Grande’s “34+35”. Also featuring Megan Thee Stallion, this song is a tour de force that shows three of the world’s leading female artists at the top of their game.

“Best Friend” ft. Saweetie

Another Doja Cat collaboration that’s currently climbing the charts, “Best Friend” is just the kind of catchy, carefree bop we need in our life right now. Saweetie and Doja are truly a match made in heaven, and we’re hoping this won’t be the last time they joined forces.

If you’re out of inspiration for your next hairstyle, just try to remember what was trendy two or three decades ago and go with that. Nostalgic hairstyles have been ruling the world for quite some time, and some of them even made their way to the red carpet of the Grammys this year.

Blingy Hair Clips

If you’re looking for a way to make a fashion statement, hair clips are always a good idea. That’s exactly what Lizzo did with pink jumbo clips that made her hairstyle truly unforgettable.

Face-Framing Tendrils

Face-framing tendrils have been a huge hit with hairstylists for over a year now, and Megan Thee Stallion and Noah Cyrus were among the celebrities who couldn’t resist rocking them on the red carpet.

Sleek Middle Part

Parting hair in the middle is never going out of style. The list of celebrities who rocked this hairstyle at the Grammys is pretty much endless, and it includes everyone from Dua Lipa and Lizzo to Maren Morris and Haim sisters.

Mullets

Love them or hate them, mullets are still here and going stronger than ever. Doja Cat is the latest celebrity to embrace this trend, following in the footsteps of Miley Cyrus and Rihanna.

In addition to being one of the defining songs of the last year, “WAP” also made history as the first female rap collaboration to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100. This moment was a long time coming, and we’re expecting we’ll get to see even more girl power hip-hop collaborations in 2021.

One of such dream-come-true-pairings is already here, and it takes the form of “Best Friend” by Doja Cat and Saweetie. This song is all about hyping the strong, independent women in your life, and we can’t wait to hear more bops like it as the year proceeds.

One of the reasons why we’re expecting to hear more amazing female-fronted collaborations is the long list of female artists who are currently ruling the rap world. Cardi B used “WAP” to tease her upcoming sophomore album, and we’re pretty sure that Megan Thee Stallion won’t be the last rap queen she collaborated with.

Saweetie’s debut album is currently on the way, while Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj are both mysteriously teasing new music on social media. City Girls also seem to always be in the mood for a new female collaboration, and they worked with almost every artist we’ve mentioned so far. It’s also been a while since Lizzo gave us any new music, and we wouldn’t mind seeing Beyoncé recording another hip-hop remix, “Savage” style.
