After several international editions of Lollapalooza took place all around the world this summer, the main event returned to Chicago’s Grant Park this weekend. This year’s festival has given us many epic performances, and we’re bringing you five that stole the show.

Karol G

Karol G’s Lollapalooza set was one for the books and she kicked off the festival’s opening day by making history as its very first Latina headliner.

Tomorrow x Together

Tomorrow x Together became the first South Korean act to ever headline Lollapalooza, but this wasn’t the only historic moment for K-pop music. NewJeans also performed at this year’s festival, becoming the first K-pop girl group to do so.

Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar’s Lollapalooza return was a long time coming, and his first performance at Chicago’s Grant Park in a decade reminded us how much amazing new music he’s given us in the past few years.

Billie Eilish

It’s been two years since the release of Billie Eilish’s last studio album, but that didn’t stop her from setting the Lollapalooza stage on fire with her biggest hits.

Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey’s headlining set at this year’s Glastonbury ended in disaster, with her set being cut short due to the festival’s strict curfew, but she redeemed herself by bringing Lollapalooza to an epic conclusion at the Bud Light stage.

2022 is slowly coming to a close and if there’s one thing we’ll still fondly remember once it’s gone it’s certainly the music. This year has given us some pretty amazing albums and here are five that we were listening to on repeat in the past few months.

Bad Bunny – Un Verano Sin Ti

If we had to pick the defining album of 2022, Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti would make the cut. It spent 13 weeks atop the Billboard 200 to become the longest-running No. 1 album of 2022, setting several records for an all-Spanish language album in its wake.

Harry Styles – Harry’s House

Styles gave us one of the best pop albums in recent memory with Harry’s House and its hit single “As It Was” went on to become the longest-reigning No. 1 song by a solo act in history.

Kendrick Lamar – Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers

We can count on Kendrick Lamar to push boundaries with each new album he shares with the world and his songwriting abilities reached a new peak with Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

Beyoncé – Renaissance

Beyoncé really kept us waiting for her new studio album, and she used it to explore many different genres, mostly drawing inspiration from ’70s dance music.

Taylor Swift – Midnights

Taylor Swift breaks the internet every time she drops a new album. Midnights set more records than we can count, but it will mostly be remembered by the launch of the Eras Tour, which led to Ticketmaster’s controversial pre-sale crash.

The Billboard 200 chart is the biggest indicator of the success of newly released albums and many of the chart-topping records this spring had one thing in common. Hip-hop albums are all the rage right now and here are some of the very best that topped the charts in the past month.

Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers – Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar’s fans spent five years waiting for his latest studio album, so it’s not a surprise to see it soar to No. 1. This record took things to a whole new level by scoring the largest week for an album released in 2022.

I Never Liked You – Future

Future never had any trouble topping the Billboard 200 chart and he did it for the eighth time with I Never Liked You. This album reunited the rapper with many of his long-time collaborators such as Drake, Kanye West, Gunna, Young Thug, and Kodak Black.

It’s Almost Dry – Pusha T

Pusha T’s latest studio effort featured A-list collaborations with the likes of Kanye West, Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, and Labrinth and its chart triumph was easy to predict.

Call Me If You Get Lost – Tyler, the Creator

Seeing Tyler, the Creator score No. 1 with Call Me If You Get Lost this April was somewhat of an anomaly for the Billboard 200 chart, but it’s easy to explain. The album was originally released in June last year, but its vinyl release pushed it back to No. 1.

There’s always a lot of anticipation surrounding the announcement of the Super Bowl halftime show, but we won’t be getting just one this time around. Five hip-hop icons will use the upcoming halftime show to pay homage to West Coast hip-hop, but can you guess who they are?

The Super Bowl bosses announced that the spotlight at the upcoming game will be split five ways—between Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar. The show’s main sponsor Pepsi is promising “an epic, unforgettable celebration of the impact hip-hop has today”, and opting for this theme is a pretty great idea.

Super Bowl LVI will take place in the Los Angeles area for the first time in three decades, so it makes sense to pick some of the artists responsible for the West Coast hip-hop revolution as headliners. Kendrick Lamar hails from a different generation, but he grew up in Compton, in the heart of California’s rap scene.

Another thing that these five artists have in common is their critical acclaim. They have 43 Grammys and 22 no. 1 albums between them, and this will be the first time they hit the stage together. We can’t wait to see how their joint set will look like when Super Bowl returns to California on February 13th, 2022.

Over the past few days, rumors have been circling on social media about a possible epic collaboration between Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar. It all started after a recent Twitter post from Grammy-winning producer Fredwreck, who worked with Dre and many other artists.

The producer tweeted an old photo of himself with Dre, Eminem, and Kendrick, captioning the photo “Beats n Rhymes”. He also added a microphone emoji and #shady and #aftermath.

Not long after the post was shared, fans of the three rappers started speculating that it refers to an upcoming collaboration with the rappers and Fredwreck.

“So we’re getting a Dr. Dre album with possible Kendrick Lamar & Eminem on the same track ???? Say ain’t so,” one fan wrote. Another wrote, “if we end up getting that Dre x Eminem x Kendrick track we’ve been waiting since 2017…”.

The speculation comes after Kendrick Lamar’s label, Top Dawg Entertainment, ignited rumors that the rapper was returning with new music in a social media post captioned, “THE WAIT IS OVAH!!!”. The post featured a teaser video of a retro “loading bar” and the date May 7, 2021, appeared at the end of the clip.

While no information was released as to which rapper would be dropping new music, fans speculated that it refers to Lamar who’s been promising new music for a while.
