McDonald’s recently celebrated the birthday of the beloved character Grimace by introducing a new drink inspired by his purple color. They had no idea how much attention this shake is going to bring their way…and not for the reason they expected.
From Dalgona coffee to dirty soda, TikTok has given us several trendy drinks over the years, but there’s something that sets Grimace Shakes apart. Don’t expect to stumble upon any recipes or aesthetically pleasing clips when you search this hashtag, because Grimace Shakes videos are all about pure horror.

This beverage started trending once TikTok users began posting clips that show them passing out after drinking it. Grimace Shakes are actually completely safe and you won’t experience any side effects after drinking one, so why is everyone sharing spooky videos involving this beverage?
TikTok user Austin Frazier is to blame for this trend, and he actually took inspiration from a similar video about Burger King’s Spider-Verse Whopper. His initial video was supposed to make fun of the drink’s weird color and show Grimace collecting victims, embracing horror and absurdist humor at the same time.

There have been tons of exciting collaborations from some of the biggest stars and unsurprisingly, these meals sell out quickly. Here are some of our favorite collaborations to date.
J Balvin
J Balvin’s collaboration was released in October 2020 and it came with a Big Mac, medium fries with ketchup, and an Oreo McFlurry. It’s worth noting that the Big Mac came without pickles. Unfortunately, the official collaboration is no longer available on the McDonald’s menu, but you can still order each item separately.
Travis Scott
The “Cactus Jack” meal was released in September 2020 and was available for a limited time. It came with a Quarter Pounder with cheese, bacon, and lettuce, plus a medium fry with barbecue sauce, and a Sprite with extra ice.
BTS
The latest collaboration is BTS’ and it launched on May 26, 2021, and is available until June 20. The meal includes a large fry, a 10-piece chicken nugget, a drink of your choice, and two sauces. The sauces, Sweet Chili and Cajun, are available for the first time in the U.S.

While we love these treats, the real dessert winner at McDonald’s is the soft serve and although it’s basic, this soft serve proves that simple is sometimes better. But, the best thing about this creamy treat is that it’s on the fast-food restaurant’s dollar menu. When you crave a simple, but decadent sundae, McDonald’s is the place to go. One this they don’t have on their menu are floats, which are made with ice cream and soda—two things the fast-food restaurant has. And that’s where this latest trend comes in—people are dunking ice cream cones in Coke.
The drink is called a black cow and it’s super popular in Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Columbia, where it’s called a vaca negra. It’s made by combining vanilla ice cream with Coca-Cola.
While you currently can’t order a float at McDonald’s in the U.S., they did experiment with a McFloat for a while. Until they add it back to their menu, you can make your own as it’s pretty easy to make. All you have to do is fill a cup half-full with Coke or any other soda you choose and put your ice cream cone inside. Swirl the cone until the soda becomes frothy. It really is that simple!

If you want to get married at McDonald’s — to have a McWedding — you can choose among four different packages. The cheapest one costs $380, while the most expensive one costs $1,275. The latter will cover invitations and gifts for 50 guests, balloon rings, a party MC, and an apple pie wedding cake display.
Though we know many wedding venues that sound way more romantic than McDonald’s, we get how the couples who met or went to their first date there would want to say their vows in the same restaurant.
