It’s nothing new, as Whitney Houston sang, “Learning to love yourself / It is the greatest gift of all” in 1985. The focus on mental health has influenced Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, Lizzo, and Meghan Trainor. These are our favorite recently released self-love songs that will put you in a great mood!
Lovato’s single “I Love Me” is about learning to accept herself for all of her flaws. Some go-to lines in the song include, “I wonder when I love me is enough?,” and “I’m a ten out of ten, don’t you ever forget it.”
Lizzo’s insanely catchy positive song is all about self-care and appreciating yourself for the amazing person you are and not letting others tell you your self-worth, which can be seen in the chorus, “If he don’t love you anymore / Just walk your fine ass out the door.”
“’Me!’ is a song about embracing your individuality, and really celebrating it, and owning it,” Swift said in an interview with Robin Roberts. We couldn’t have summed up the song better ourselves.
“Lose You to Love Me” helped us understand what it truly takes to get over a nasty breakup and how to find yourself at the end of a relationship.
“This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album. I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself,” Gomez wrote on Vevo before the song’s release.

It’s hard not to be down on ourselves and these celebrities are showing us that even they’re not exempt from these thoughts.
The “Confident” singer hasn’t always been confident about her body and she’s been incredibly open about her struggles with mental health. At the Teen Vogue Summit, Lovato said, “We hear the term body positivity all the time. To be honest, I don’t always feel positive about my body. Sometimes I do not like what I see. I don’t sit there and dwell on it. I also don’t lie to myself…All I have to say is ‘I’m healthy.’ In that statement, I express gratitude. I am grateful for my strength and things I can do with my body. I am saying I’m healthy and I accept the way my body is today without changing anything.”
The Modern Family star has been so honest with fans about her health conditions, which started at birth. Like many who live with medical issues, her medical procedures have been a source of insecurity for the star in the past, but Hyland has decided to start loving her body. Recently, she went to Instagram and wrote, “To my fellow #invisibleillness warriors. It’s ok to be insecure about your body. Just remember to check in with yourself at least once a day and say thank you. Our bodies have endured unfathomable feats that our minds barely have time to comprehend what has actually happened.”
The Superstore star has decided to try something new this New Year’s, and learn to be more body positive. “I just made a choice. My New Year’s resolution this year was to not speak negatively about my body to myself or to anyone else. It’s really been a mindset that’s been really positive for me, and I think that as women, especially, we’re very hard on ourselves. Trying to change that narrative and focusing on the things that you like is a really powerful tool,” Ash said in an interview with US Weekly.
