According to Urban Dictionary, French girls are simply the most beautiful and greatest girls on this planet. Indeed, the idea of French girls as a sort of ideal has been floating around for some decades now. Women like Carine Roitfeld, Jane Birkin, and Catherine Deneuve are revered for their effortless beauty and minimalist chic. At the heart of this somewhat unachievable ideal lies the notion that style is eternal and attitude is everything.

But you don’t actually have to be French in order to achieve a level of Parisian sophistication. Enter clothing brand Rouje. Launched in 2016 by Parisian it-girl Jeanne Damas, the brand caters to that je ne sais quoi quality fashionistas crave. Indeed, the brand’s unofficial mission statement reads: “What’s la vie en Rouje about? Putting lipstick with your fingers, adjusting your skirt to give your legs some sunshine while ‘en terrasse’ at a café. Wearing a dress on a bicycle and jeans for a night out. Surrounding yourself with beautiful souls and witty friends. And missing the métro stop because that book is just too good.”

Recent collections feature romantic retro cotton tops and flowery dresses ideal for picnic weather. Made with beautiful fabrics and with an emphasis on tailoring, the brand hopes to create timeless pieces that outgrow passing fads.

As its creative director, Damas’ French-girl attitude is noticeable throughout the collection and look-books. Damas also collaborates with friends and other creatives, making the brand stand out for its celebratory and sincere tone. In other words: it’s hard not to smile when scrolling through Rouje’s collections.

According to Damas, her biggest sources of inspiration, when it comes to her effortless style, are other women. “Women in the streets, my mother, my friends, movies,” she noted in an interview with Coveteur. If you’re looking to add that extra layer of chic to your wardrobe, you should definitely check her brand:

Okay, after years of speculation, warning, excitement, anticipation, and trepidation, there’s no denying that it’s finally here. That’s right, the 2000s have come back into style. If you’re a Gen Z-er, you’re probably finding this fun and exciting, but if you were a teen in the 2000s, you might be a little bit more hesitant to see the fashions of your blunder years coming back to haunt you.

But don’t worry. You don’t have to participate in this trend if you don’t want to. And if you do want to try it out in a gentle way, there are ways to do so without reliving all of your middle school trauma. Here are three Y2K fashion pieces you maybe won’t hate.

Coloured Sunglasses

Let’s start with the most harmless of Y2K trends: colorful, fun, playful sunglasses. Because tinted lenses mean we all get to see the world through rose-colored glasses and don’t we all deserve a bit of optimism in these trying times?

Ribbed Cardigans

A fitted, ribbed cardigan is exactly the type of Y2K fashion piece that looks totally reasonable today, giving off chic, even adult, energy instead of the kiddie pool vibes that so many of us associate with the trends we rocked in our puberty days.

Velour Tracksuits

Okay, this one might be a little extreme, but hear us out. Velour tracksuits may be a bit tacky, but they’re damn comfortable, and nobody can deny that. It’s the perfect outfit for lounging or flying, and if it’s going to be trendy while it’s comfortable, we say, why the heck not?

Have you ever visited “These Exist?” It’s a place where people share some fashion items which usually leave everyone speechless. People present the items, share the facts, and let everyone know that they exist.

There are times when you need to become a laughing stock first while wearing something you’re trying to look cool in the world of fashion. If you can weather that storm, you might end up being the one who starts the trend!

Alife, activewear brand from New York City, made an announcement that it’s collaborating with Crocs to bring you a brand new product. What product is this, you say? Well, it’s Crocs with built-in socks. With these Crocs, you don’t even have to wear your own socks because the shoes already have socks sewn into the soles. Those in fashion see this as a double whammy. It’s a revival of a shoe style which was previously abhorred along with a questionable choice of styling, wearing sandals with socks.

The Crocs are white in color while the socks sewn into them are tube socks. Now that these shoes have come out, only time will tell if they will become a trend in the fashion world.
