Marvel’s Agatha: Darkhold Diaries
This series sees Kathryn Hahn reprise her role as Agatha and will introduce a range of spooky, magical characters from the Marvel universe. Set for US release in late September 2024, this series should get the spooky season off to a great start.
BBC’s Domino Day
This series follows a witch living in the UK city of Manchester, as she uses her powers to navigate modern life. At times funny, tragic, and just a little bit spooky, this is a great way to get into the spirit of things.
AMC’s Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale
This great series is kicking things off in 2024, as it retells the best-selling novel written by VV James. With plenty of gore, spooky moments, and creepy characters, this program is helping to establish 2024 as the year of the witch.

]]>Storytellers in Hollywood often rely on romantic tropes to keep the story going, but it seems they’ll have to change their ways. According to UCLA’s new study, the younger audience feels romance is too prominent in film and TV, and they’d prefer seeing more content about friendships and platonic relationships.
The Center for Scholars & Storytellers at UCLA recently conducted a Teens & Screens report, and the results were pretty telling. 47.5% of teens and young adults aged 13-24 said that romance and s-x are too prominent in TV shows and movies, with 44.3% saying that romance in media is overused.
The survey also showed that 51.5% of teens and young adults want to see more content focused on friendships and platonic relationships. Many of the respondents also expressed a desire to see themselves represented on screen, with “lives like my own” ranking as the second most popular topic among adolescents.
Dr. Yalda T. Uhls, the co-author of the study who serves as an adjunct professor in UCLA’s psychology department, said that young people are seeking modeling in the art they consume because they’re suffering an epidemic of loneliness.
“While some storytellers use s-x and romance as a shortcut to character connection, it’s important for Hollywood to recognize that adolescents want stories that reflect the full spectrum of relationships,” said Uhls in a statement shared by Deadline.

Reality TV
Love it or hate it, reality TV will be all the rage in 2021, and even streaming services are fully embracing it. Netflix already has a couple of hits on their hands, including Love is Blind and The Circle, and Hulu is ready to get into the game after signing deals with the Kardashian and D’Amelio family.
Disney+ Boom
The Mandalorian is arguably the only hit show that Disney+ gave us since its launch in 2019, but that’s about to change. Many of the Marvel and Star Wars series we’ve been waiting for will finally premiere in 2021, starting with WandaVision.
Endless Reboots
Reboots are certainly not a novelty on the TV scene, and they’ll be going stronger than ever in 2021. HBO Max recently announced they’re bringing Sex and the City back, and the reboots of Gossip Girl, Clueless, and LOTR are already on the way.
