Take These Skincare Trends Into the New Year

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced many of the skincare trends. We’ve had to come up with new ways to take care of our skin due to wearing masks and in 2021, these will be the skincare trends everyone’s following.

Maskne Treatments

Mask acne has been such a thing that it’s gotten its own name—mascne. Many people who haven’t had to deal with pimples since their teenage years are now having breakouts and skin irritation due to wearing masks. This has caused people to seek out topicals and medical professionals to reduce their acne and deal with scarring.

Gentler Retinol Alternatives

Retinol increases collagen production and skin-cell turnover, treats acne, unclogs pores, evens out skin tone, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Many people are hesitant to use retinol treatments due to them irritating the skin. Plant-based alternatives and antioxidants are great swaps for retinol.

At-Home Chemical Peels

Even when medical offices fully open, people will continue to try and get similar results at home with chemical peels. DIY versions are usually gentler and they use similar ingredients to take care of skin issues like fine lines, discoloration, sun damage, and acne.
