This German Note-Taking Method Will Change the Way You Work

If you’re always on the lookout for the latest work-related trend to try and become more productive and more successful, we have to recommend Zettelkasten. Zettelkasten is a German note-taking method created by sociologist Niklas Luhmann. Luhmann wrote over 400 papers and 70 books during his career and, apparently, he was only able to do it thanks to Zettelkasten.

The Zettelkasten method consists of slips of paper stored in a box and each of those papers contains a piece of information or an idea and an index that helps you find it later, like date or number. It’s important to spend time creating a good indexing system because it will allow you to easily add new ideas while maintaining order. This system is often used by writers, researchers, and entrepreneurs and there’s really no reason why you can’t implement it into your life.

The main advantage of the Zettelkasten method is that it makes it easier to connect ideas and to come up with new things derived from them. You can use it to become better at your job or to develop new skills and to think about ideas that motivate you.
