Wes Anderson’s films experienced a true renaissance this year, and he surprised us with several new releases in the past few months. Following the success of his latest full-length film Asteroid City, he joined forces with Netflix for several short-film adaptations of Roald Dahl’s stories, which recently premiered on this streaming service.

The Swan

Ralph Fiennes returns as the narrator Roald Dahl in the adaptation of the famed author’s short story The Swan. This film sees a young brilliant boy doing everything in his power to overcome the latest attack by two ignorant bullies who’ve been tormenting him for quite some time.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar

Led by Benedict Cumberbatch, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar served as an introduction to Anderson’s new film series. It centers on a rich bachelor who learns about a mysterious man who can see without using his eyes and decides to master the same skill.

The Rat Catcher

The Rat Catcher stars Fiennes, Richard Ayoade, and Rupert Friend, and it takes us to a tiny English village, where a reporter and a mechanic listen to a professional rodent killer explain his genius plan to outwit his prey.

Poison

Benedict Cumberbatch returns in the final film in Anderson’s series, alongside Dev Patel and Ben Kingsley. He stars as an Englishman fighting for his life in India after a poisonous snake slithers inside his stomach.
