ABC announced the cancelation and renewal of many of its shows last week and determined the future of the Black-ish franchise along the way. After almost a decade of following the trials and tribulations of the Johnson family, should we buckle up for more or get ready to say goodbye?

Black-ish

The hit sitcom that started it all in 2014 has been renewed for its eighth and final season. The creator of Black-ish, Kenya Barris, thanked ABC for an opportunity to end the show on their own terms and said the show’s stellar cast is coming back to close this chapter the right way.

Mixed-ish

In addition to announcing the final season of Black-ish, ABC also announced the cancellation of its spin-off Mixed-ish after just two seasons. This series chronicled Rainbow Johnson’s childhood years and the ups and downs of growing up in a mixed-race family during the 80s.

Grown-ish

The future of Grown-ish remains a mystery since it’s airing on Freeform and not ABC, unlike Black-ish and Mixed-ish. It follows the college adventures of the Johnson family’s firstborn daughter Zoey (Yara Shahidi) and its fourth season is set to premiere this summer.
