During the past year, the way we exercise has completely changed since we’ve had to find no ways to get movement into our days. With gyms closed and working from home, it’s been harder than ever to be active which has caused us to rethink the way we exercise. And the latest fitness trend that’s come out of the pandemic is intuitive movement. So what’s it all about?

Intuitive movement involves connecting with your body to figure out what kind of movement, how long, and the intensity you should do. It incorporates mindfulness and being present in the exercises. Pretty much it’s about doing what feels good to you and reconnecting with your body. Mental health is as much the focus as physical health.

The method applies to both low-intensity exercises like yoga and walking and high-intensity ones like HIT and running. It’s a day-to-day thing that depends on what you need at that given moment. If you’re lacking motivation, intuitive movement is perfect for you because it separates the physical reasons for exercise and makes it more about taking time for yourself.

It’s also great for people who don’t feel comfortable working out at gyms or studios because they think they don’t fit in with everyone else who’s exercising there. The method is about finding what you love and getting a workout in that makes you feel like your best self.
