Josh Grisetti’s Family Shares Heartfelt Message After His Death at 44

Days after Josh Grisetti died by suicide at age 44, his family has spoken publicly about their loss and the support they have received. In a message posted on a GoFundMe page created in his honor, they said their hearts are “profoundly broken” and described the actor as a “luminous force” whose work left a lasting mark across Broadway, television, film, and academia.

The family said the fundraiser was set up after many people asked how they could help Grisetti’s wife, Mackenzie Grisetti, and the rest of the family. According to the post, any money not needed for immediate end-of-life expenses and related arrangements will be donated to the Entertainment Community Fund, which offers mental health services, crisis counseling, and support groups for people working in the arts.

Friends and collaborators remember his impact

Grisetti’s career spanned both screen and stage, with credits including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Knights of Prosperity. After the pandemic, he also moved further into teaching, earning an MFA in performance pedagogy from Loyola Marymount University and joining Cal State Fullerton.

Tributes have continued to pour in from people who knew him professionally and personally. Actor Rob McClure, a longtime friend, reflected on years of performing alongside Grisetti and on watching him inspire students. Sierra Boggess, his costar in It Shoulda Been You, also shared her grief on Instagram, calling him a brilliant actor, director, and writer and saying his students were fortunate to have learned from him.
