This is set to continue into 2024, and whilst people will continue to list their “just read” and “to read” titles on online platforms such as TikTok and Goodreads, many people are also turning to old-fashioned methods to record a reading diary. A simple concept, this works by writing down the title and author of the book you’ve just read, plus some thoughts on the book’s overall plot and characters. The idea is that this creates a permanent record of your reading which you can revisit over time and remember certain titles you loved. If you’re interested, check out these tips on creating your own reading diary.
Make it Beautiful
Part of the reason for recording the books you’ve read on paper is to have a beautiful, lasting record. Aesthetics count when it comes to this trend, so invest in some stunning stationery and practice your handwriting before launching into the first page. While the diary doesn’t need to be perfect, it does need to be pretty enough to make you want to open it and flick through, so take time to decorate each page. This in itself is a lovely mindful activity and a great way to while away a Sunday afternoon.

Keeping a book diary is meant to be a mindful, fun way of recording your favorite reading experiences. If it starts feeling like a chore every time you finish a title, ease up on your diary keeping or change the way you’re doing it. If you’re struggling to find time to do it in the week, reassess whether you could cut down on screen time (which has been proven to reduce overall wellbeing and happiness) in favor of keeping your reading diary.

]]>In one of the classiest photo-dumps seen on Instagram lately, Oscar-winning actress and social activist Angelina Jolie expresses high hopes for the impact of her newly published book. The book, meant to empower and educate teens, is straightforwardly titled Know Your Rights and Claim Them: A Guide for Youth and was released in September.
“Iām so inspired by young people around the world who are on the front lines of the struggle for human rights,” Jolie stated in her post. “From protecting the environment to fighting inequality and discrimination, they are stepping in to do the work adults should but so far have failed to do. And in refugee camps and conflict areas globally, children are bearing the burden of the consequences of those bad decisions.”
Jolie went on to talk about the change that can occur once teens and children are aware of their rights, writing “When children and young people have the agency, power, and knowledge to speak up, they can change the lives of both young people and adults, helping to achieve a more equal society.”According to Jolie, she consulted young activists around the globe while writing her new book, which is meant “for them, and all the many young people fighting for their rights globally.”

In a recent Instagram post, Palmer revealed the covers of all five short stories to be included in the future collection. The post features the five cover images, which are all color combinations of illustrated backgrounds combined with actual photos of Keke in different poses. It also gives a glimpse of the names of the stories, which definitely helped spark interest among the actress-writer’s followers.
“Iām thrilled to unveil the covers for my new collection, #SouthernBelleInsults, from Amazon Original Stories,” Palmer wrote in the caption. Referring to her viral alter ego, she said “Lady Miss Jacqueline has some new friends to introduce you to, and you will not want to miss the magicā¦or the wigs” and invited fans to sign up to Amazon in order to be notified on the future release.

Even when you sit down to finally get some reading done, how focused on it are you really? Most people canāt help but think about other stuff, too, and we totally get that. This is especially prominent if you squeeze reading in together with other activities like commuting or running on a treadmill while listening to an audiobook.
If you canāt take time to just read and do nothing else at the same time, ask yourself if reading really is a priority for you. If it is, get serious about it.
Always remember itās not about how many books you read, but what you get from them. Give yourself plenty of time alone with the book and donāt feel guilty about it. You donāt have to read every latest bestseller, you only have to read things you actually want to read.
āSlow readingā is the trend we need to remind us of the values of reading that made us fall in love with books in the first place.

]]>Apple is getting serious with landing contract for its upcoming original streaming service. After announcing the production of Amazing Stories reboot, a space opera by Ron Moore, and multiple series by Reese Witherspoon, they have now presented the latest project – the Foundation series based on Isaac Asimov’s books.
Foundation tells the story of a huge galactic empire’s fall and a group of scientists who are trying to preserve knowledge and restore civilization. The books were first published in the 1940s in Astounding Science Fiction.
The project of turning the books into a serious is pretty ambitious, and that’s why it hasn’t been done before. The plot takes place over hundreds of years, characters are constantly changing, and it mostly consists of conversation, with very little action. It will be quite interesting to see how Apple will handle this.
