A Pomeranian rescue from Northern Ontario, and currently based in Toronto, Pom Pom Chewy (or Chewy for short) has come to be known as the Worldβs Littlest Trendsetter. Sporting trendy eyewear, Hawaiian shirts, and gold chainsβhe’s easily top dog. Come holiday season, Chewy can also be seen wearing adorable costumes (our favorites include his Santa outfit and pumpkin costume).
According to owner Nicole, Chewy’s fashionable attire has inspired his followers in more ways than one. βOne of my favorite stories about Chewy happened at our first Pet Expo,β she toldΒ Animal Wellness Magazine. βA little boy had just got a pair of glasses and was very insecure about them. Chewy loves wearing glasses and happened to be wearing a pair that day. Iβll never forget the moment that little boy saw Chewy with his glasses. Suddenly, it was like glasses were the best thing in the world!β
Like many pet celebrities, there was an element of luck to Chewy’s success. Nicole explained that she first shared photos of her pet with her friends. βWhen I sent photos to friends, I would put different-sized items beside him to show them how small he was,β she explained. βAll the photos went on my personal Instagram and I realized it was slowly becoming his own account.β
Since then, his career hasn’t slowed down. A full time model and actor, Chewy can be seen in independent films like Humor Me and has been seen on the set of the film The Secret Life of Pets. You can also admire his fashionable attire on Instagram. God knows we need the inspiration.

]]>A South Korean startup company named Petpuls developed an innovative product that will help dog owners understand their beloved pets better. Their smart dog collar uses artificial intelligence to “translate” dogs’ emotions based on their barks, effectively telling the owners what their pets are trying to communicate.
The Petpuls collar uses voice recognition technology to monitor the emotions of dogs and understands if they are happy, sad, angry, relaxed, etc. To be able to do this, the company created an algorithm using 10,000 samples from 50 different dog breeds. The dog owners get the data delivered to their smartphone app.
“It comes with an activity tracker and rest tracker. With the activity tracker, it will show how much activity has been done, based on the calorie consumption analysis. At the same time, the rest tracker shows how much rest the dog needs or how tired the dog is,” said Andrew Gil, the company’s director of global marketing.
Their collar sells for around $100 and it’s the perfect gift for a dog owner in your life. We’re sure we’ll see many more products like this in the near future!

In the past, rappers used to use big, muscular dogs with sharp teeth to show their toughness, but now, they’re embracing cuter, more cuddly dogs.
Don’t believe us? Just check out the Instagram account rapperswithpuppies, whose feed has tons of rappers posing with their adorable pooches. You’ll find everyone from Wiz Khalifa to 50 Cent, happily cuddling their puppies.
βThereβs a wider variety of rappers now, and with that comes a wider variety of dogs,β says Portland rapper AminΓ©, who has a labradoodle named Oliver. Rapper RxCKSTxR, who went viral with a song called Β “Puppy Dog Bouncing In A Box,” and made a concept album named The Dog Album, believes that dogs have changed with the genre’s shift in style and fashion, βWe’ve gone from oversized tees, jackets, and jeans to tank tops, blouses, loud colors, sandals, and skinny jeans with matching purses and belts,β he says. βThe same apply to our dogs. Most rapper dogs are small and easy to carry and travel with sort of like an accessory.β
Whatever the reason for the change in pups, we’re just here for the adorable relationship between rappers and their dogs.
