Staying on top of fashion trends can be a grueling task. Looking for trends on social media is considered one of the easiest ways to find out about the latest styles and trendiest options available on the market. But who you follow on social media is crucial. Introducing the biggest fashion icon of the moment: Pom Pom Chewy.
A Pomeranian rescue from Northern Ontario, and currently based in Toronto, Pom Pom Chewy (or Chewy for short) has come to be known as the World’s Littlest Trendsetter. Sporting trendy eyewear, Hawaiian shirts, and gold chains—he’s easily top dog. Come holiday season, Chewy can also be seen wearing adorable costumes (our favorites include his Santa outfit and pumpkin costume).
According to owner Nicole, Chewy’s fashionable attire has inspired his followers in more ways than one. “One of my favorite stories about Chewy happened at our first Pet Expo,” she told Animal Wellness Magazine. “A little boy had just got a pair of glasses and was very insecure about them. Chewy loves wearing glasses and happened to be wearing a pair that day. I’ll never forget the moment that little boy saw Chewy with his glasses. Suddenly, it was like glasses were the best thing in the world!”
Like many pet celebrities, there was an element of luck to Chewy’s success. Nicole explained that she first shared photos of her pet with her friends. “When I sent photos to friends, I would put different-sized items beside him to show them how small he was,” she explained. “All the photos went on my personal Instagram and I realized it was slowly becoming his own account.”
Since then, his career hasn’t slowed down. A full time model and actor, Chewy can be seen in independent films like Humor Me and has been seen on the set of the film The Secret Life of Pets. You can also admire his fashionable attire on Instagram. God knows we need the inspiration.
